The Department of Natural Resources & Mines commissioned 3-D Projects to design interpretive signage, visitor walkways, viewing platforms and rockfall barrier systems within the Fireclay Caverns at the Mount Morgan Mine, Queensland, which contain Australia’s best concentration of Early Jurassic dinosaur tracks preserved in the caverns' ceilings.
3-D Projects created a corten steel gateway at the caverns' entrance that funnels visitors into the caverns, displays key safety and interpretive information, acts as a rock fall barrier that keeps the site secure after hours. Within the caverns, steel bridges and suspended walkways allow visitors controlled equity access to the dinosaur tracks while restricting entry to hazardous rockfall areas.
Stage 1 completed September 2003.
